Who is the face of the LWML?
Faces come in many different color and shapes. But what do they have in common? All have the standard issue eyes, nose, cheeks, and mouth. These accessories to the face have many uses. Eyes and nose are sensory organs which help the brain to understand the world. Eyes can be used to see a need and direct the body to assist in meeting the need. The mouth can be used to proclaim God's love to all people. The cheeks can be used to round out a smile of love and compassion.
Faces may be striving to control the acne or slightly wrinkly. Yes, our faces sometimes can give away our age. The world may judge us on our outward beauty, but God looks at what is in our heart.
Faces show our emotions, our feelings and our reactions to our surroundings. Your face should reflect the love of the Lord that is in your heart. Yes there are days when that is harder to do than others, but God is always there even in the difficult times. I have yet to meet a Christian woman who does not have someone or something that she is praying for. Our hope and trust in God allows us to smile when we may feel that the situation is without hope.
Who is the face of the LWML? Are you a woman who loves the Lord, who wants to further his kingdom here on earth? Are you a woman with a generous heart who wants to serve the Lord this gladness? Then look in the mirror. You are the face of the LWML.
Someone asked me recently what convention is like. I could not come up with an easy answer. You have to experience one. For each person there is a memory or moment when God especially touches their heart. Part of my response was that it is the mountain top experience that I can carry through the rest of the year when the world may be trying to pull me down. One thing I do love is seeing all of the women at convention, the old and the young. All faces striving to do his will.
I hope to see your face at convention in June. Our district convention will feature special activities for the younger women, time with President Cheryl, a pizza party, a mission project, and LWML 101. Make plans to be there. Show your face, the face of the LWML.
